Mandela: The Legacy Continues with 67 Minutes for Madiba
On MandelaDay & every day, Nelson Mandela’s words inspire us to “ensure that democracy, peace & prosperity prevail everywhere. For 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity
On this day Nelson Mandela, 18 July people from all around the world celebrate his iconic legacy by donating 67 minutes of their time towards a good cause. Here at Radio Nfm 98.1 we do no different. Radio Nfm in partnership with Department of Education, Department of Justice, Nama Khoi Municipality, Stats SA and Bosasa Youth Development Centre in Springbok all came together to provide a warm cup of soup and bread to local community members in Okiep main road by providing 67 minutes of their time.
Mr Dennis Coetzee, local community activist and Board member of Radio NFM provided a free sausage rolls as part of his “stoepsitters” project in the aid of fighting against poverty and unemployment.
Speakers for the day included Me. Kitty Links from the Department of Education; Denise Joseph, Speaker of Nama Khoi Municipality; Lorenzo Faber, Mayor of Nama Khoi Municipality; Dikgang Molebatsi from the Statistics SAn and Mr Charles Coetzee Ward counsellor of Okiep.
Speakers reminded people of the words “Let everyday be a Mandela Day” and that we all must do our part in fighting poverty and unemployment. Our youth was reminded to never forget the legacy of Nelson Mandela and to continue to live out his characteristics in their daily endeavor. Radio Nfm wants to thank each and every participant that took part in making this day a great success.
