The Nama Youth Guardians fundraising campaign in Port Nolloth is progressing at tortoise footsteps, with only R5,050 raised so far.

The funds form part of the Buy a Brick - Phase 1 initiative, which officially started in July last year and aims to raise R200,000. 

According to Estefan Pieterse from Nama Youth Guardians, the campaign is crucial to preparing for the launch of the Gazania Child and Youth Care Centre.

The centre is intended to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for children who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abandonment. 

Pieterse says the organisation’s long-term vision is to create a future where children no longer need rescuing but are protected, supported, and empowered through education and care.

Despite slow progress, the organisation remains hopeful that increased community and donor support will help turn the vision into reality, one brick at a time.
