The Thistles Rugby Club in Okiep paid tribute to former player and team leader  Neelsie Linden during a memorial service held at the Okiep Country Hotel.

The event brought together several legendary players including John Linden, George Cloete, Godfrey Linden, Leonard Losper, Vicky Mouton, Foena Wippenaar, Albert Hoffman, and Johnathan Cloete, who all shared fond memories of playing alongside him.

Basil Cloete reflected on past matches, recalling how Linden was a strong competitor and respected leader during his playing days with the Desert Daisies team.

Former teammates described Linden as a talented rugby player who contributed greatly to the sport in the region during his youth.

Those who attended the memorial say his legacy will be remembered for his sportsmanship and lasting impact on local rugby in Okiep.
