Residents in the Northern Cape are being warned about a housing scam circulating on social media. 

The fraudulent advert falsely claims to offer government-subsidised houses for sale through the Department of Human Settlements.

The department have clarified that RDP or subsidised houses are not sold and no deposits or payments are required.

Community members are urged not to share personal information or make any payments to individuals linked to the advert. 

Anyone who encounters the scam is encouraged to report it to local authorities for investigation.
