Kokerboom Media says the cultural identity and living heritage of communities across the Namakwa District are importnat and must be preserved and shared for future generations. 

The organisation is leading the Nama-Khoi Heritage Research and Rejuvenation Project, which recently conducted visits to several towns in the district.

These included Vioolsdrift, Lekkersing, Eksteenfontein, Kamieskroon, Leliefontein, Nourivier, Pella, and Goodhouse. 

During the visits, residents, along with parents and community leaders, shared stories, traditions, and historical knowledge passed down through generations.

According to the organisation, this is Phase 1 of the project, which will build towards Phase 2, while the release of a documentary capturing these stories will be announced at a later stage.

The project, supported by the National Heritage Council of South Africa, aims to document and safeguard the rich cultural heritage of the Nama Khoi people.
