Two foreign nationals have been arrested at the Vioolsdrift Border Post during a cross-border operation conducted by the Northern Cape police and its law-enforcement partners.

Police says the intelligence-driven operation was carried out between on 2 and 6 September 2026 along the South Africa-Namibia border, targeting the movement of stolen livestock, vehicles, drugs, stolen goods, firearms and ammunition, as well as undocumented persons.

Police say 2,410 vehicles were stopped and searched, with more than 4,100 people, luggage and passports checked during border, river, vehicle and foot patrols, as well as farm visits.

Brigd. Mashay Gamieldien, provincial police spokesperson says the two undocumented persons detained at Vioolsdrift and face charges for contravening Section 49 of the Immigration Act.

Brigd. Gamieldien says operations will continue to disrupt cross-border criminal networks and strengthen border security.
