At the young age of just 20 Joshua Links was a singer, songwriter, and student from Namaqualand.
He is currently residing in Lime Acres and is also a 2nd year student at the University of the Western Cape, studying towards his degree in the Arts.
Links started playing the guitar in 2011 and were lucky enough to be in the same guitar class with artist Tholwana Mohale.
He especially gives credit to Mr. David Swart whom he says was a great guitar teacher and who worked all the magic.
Links says that he would like to learn to play piano at some stage.
“I am single, but I like to write about love, my life experiences although I have not yet released any of my own work yet,” says Links.
He is focused on finishing his studies before he starts working with a producer to release his music, but wouldn’t mind if a producer is willing to work with him for free, laughing at his own idea.
A career in music is what he wants to pursue full time but this young artist believes in having a backup plan, which involves psychology.
His role model is Ed Sheeran, and also one of his biggest inspirations.
He values the support he receives from his family and all the supporters who like and share his music.
“My favorite song to sing in the shower is All the single ladies,” says Links.
His advice to other artists and musicians is that you need to make music for yourself first.
The music industry is a challenging industry to be in and the only way you can succeed is to create music that you are passionate about.
”Be patient, your chance will come” says Links.
“Men should be doing a lot more to bring about change.
Men need to work harder to understand our roles in empowering women” is Links’s message for women’s month.
