Day Three of the Community Mobilisation and Empowerment (CME) and CNDC/CDC Indaba was characterised by critical reflection, knowledge sharing, and strengthened alignment on community development practice across districts.

MEC MANOPOLE LEADS OLDER PERSONS APPRECIATION PROGRAMME IN NORVALSPONT
The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development, Ms. Mase Manopole, today led the Older Persons Appreciation Programme in Norvalspont, within the Pixley ka Seme District, as part of government’s commitment to honouring and supporting senior citizens.

Sentencing for convicted murderer Alberto Matthews has been delayed again by another day following a postponement by the Northern Cape High Court. Judge Danie Olivier adjourned court until tomorrow morning after pre-sentencing arguments today. Matthews was found guilty of the December 2023 murder of his ex-wife, Mandy Bailey. Bailey was shot in front of her nine-year-old daughter. Matthews also faces sentencing for the illegal possession of a firearm and violating a protection order.09:02

VISIT IN THE PIXLEY KA SEME DISTRICT
MEC Abraham Vosloo visited the Pixley Ka Seme District Office, Monwabisi High School and met all Principals of Circuit 1 in De Aar today. The purpose for these visits were to convey his gratitude to the District officials and schools for their outstanding achievement in the 2025 NSC Examinations.
The MEC utilised the school visits to set tone for the 2026 school academic year and to determine the support required by the District office and schools. Furthermore, the active involvement of parents are crucial for the success of the education system.
