More than half a million people were left without power after Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on Wednesday, October 29.
The storm struck near the southwestern town of New Hope and flooded the parish of Saint Elizabeth.
It was one of the strongest storms to batter Jamaica, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
Melissa has since weakened to a category three hurricane and is now approaching eastern Cuba.
BBC News reports evacuations are underway in parts of Cuba as the storm is expected to hit the island.
