The Communal Property Association meeting has concluded in Nama-Khoi, marking the start of a series of engagements focused on land reform and land claims, particularly for Coloured and Khoisan communities.

According to Saintes Van Wyk, these meetings aim to address historical imbalances of the past 32 years of democracy and strengthen the voice of communities such as the traditional Nama leadership in Steinkopf, within the Nama-Khoi Municipality.

Community members, including small-scale farmers, miners and local “diggers,” are being actively engaged through the Steinkopf CPA.

In preparation for an oversight visit by Parliament’s Land Reform Portfolio Committee to the Northern Cape from the 1st to the 6th of February 2026, key leaders have met with the Steinkopf CPA to ensure readiness.

With a full day of CPA meetings ahead, the community is asserting its land claims and positioning itself to take full advantage of this important process.
