The Namakwa District Municipality has strongly disputed claims aired on national radio suggesting that the Executive Mayor was unavailable for a scheduled interview on service delivery matters in the district, including but not limited to recent developments.

According to the municipality, the Mayor was ready and waiting at the agreed time, but the anticipated call from RSG never came through.

The municipality has raised concerns that the incorrect on-air statement may have unfairly damaged the Mayor’s credibility and misled the public.

Officials say the incident points to a serious breakdown in communication that warrants clarification and accountability.

Despite the controversy, the municipality insists it remains committed to transparent, responsible communication and expects the same standard from national broadcasters.
