A major development is on the way for the community of Alexanderbaai as the National Prosecuting Authority moves to bring justice services closer to residents. 

For years, victims of crime and accused persons have had to travel more than 60 kilometres to attend court in Port Nolloth, often without reliable public transport and at great personal cost. 

During an oversight visit to the area, Chief Prosecutor Armando Damarah identified this as a serious service delivery gap affecting access to justice.

In response, the NPA, together with the South African Police Service and the Department of Justice, has agreed to establish a periodic court in Alexanderbaai, with land already identified and infrastructure planning under way. 

The new court is expected to improve efficiency, reduce hardship for community members, and ensure justice is delivered closer to where people live.

It is not yet pinned as to when will the new court will be built.
