Hantam Municipal area community members have raised concerns about the response to ongoing infrastructure vandalism in town, questioning whether recent discussions will lead to visible and time-bound action.

This follows a meeting happened last week friday between municipal leadership, Transnet management and other stakeholders regarding vandalised buildings in residential areas.

While residents welcome the council’s seriousness in addressing these challenges, they are asking when clear deadlines and concrete implementation plans will be communicated.

Questions are also being raised about the next engagement regarding key sites such as the Reunion Hostel building and the old traffic and water feature building.

The community says it appreciates the conversations, but now awaits firm decisions and tangible progress to restore and protect these important town assets.
