The Northern Cape is preparing for the much-anticipated State of the Province Address by Premier Dr. Zamani Saul, scheduled for February 26, 2026, at the Bergsig Sports Ground in Springbok. 

In his previous address on March 6, 2025, Saul spoke of key priorities including major infrastructure projects like the R2.5 billion water upgrade in Sol Plaatje Municipality and the transformation of Upington airport into a central transport hub.

The Premier also mentioned renewable energy investments, economic growth with job creation in sectors such as mining, agriculture, and construction, and improvements in education and healthcare facilities. 

This year’s address is expected to provide updates on progress and unveil new initiatives to drive prosperity, equity, and sustainability across the province. Communities are eagerly awaiting the speech, hoping for clear plans to address the provincial’s challenges and opportunities.
