The South African National Roads Agency, SANRAL, has closed the R380 Section 2 in the Northern Cape due to severe flooding.

The affected areas include kilometre 37 and kilometre 69 near Madibeng, where a bridge has been completely submerged.

Authorities say the closure is necessary to ensure the safety of road users, with several surrounding roads also reported to be impassable.

Motorists are being urged to delay travel in the area as no alternative routes are currently available.

SANRAL has called on drivers to obey road signs and follow instructions from officials on site while the situation persists.
