Ubuntu Strategic Development is facing growing criticism over delayed learner stipend payments linked to Department of Labour learnership programmes in Nababeep.
Nababeep Youth Development representative Mario Maggott says learners were informed today that stipends would not be paid, despite previous assurances that payments would be processed on 15 May 2026.
Concerns have also been raised about repeated requests for banking confirmations, which community leaders say are creating false hope and increasing frustration among struggling learners and their families.
Maggott, together with Councillor Sylvia Cloete, has formally requested an urgent meeting with Ubuntu and the Department of Labour before Monday to address the matter transparently.
Community representatives warn that failure to respond may result in the matter being escalated to higher authorities for investigation.
