Namakwa Netball has joined Netball South Africa in calling on Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie to provide financial support for players competing in the SPAR National Championships.

The association says many players are unemployed and cannot afford the costs of representing their districts despite ongoing fundraising efforts and community support.

Namakwa Netball says the financial burden remains beyond the reach of many families.

The organisation has appealed for netball to receive the same level of recognition and financial assistance as other sporting codes.

Namakwa Netball says no deserving player should miss the opportunity to represent their regions because of financial hardship.
