A 37-year-old man has been arrested on allegations of dealing in drugs on Monday, 07 September 2026, in Loeriesfontein in Namakwa region.

Police says they acted on information provided by a concerned community member and obtained a search warrant before proceeding to the identified premises.

Police says during the search, they seized drugs with an estimated street value of 50-thousand rand, along with an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be linked to drug dealing.

Cpt. Ivan Magerman, regional police spokesperson says the suspect is expected to appear in court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Acting Namakwa District Commissioner Colonel Moses Lekgwati has commended the police for their swift action and the community member for providing information, saying public involvement remains important in the fight against the illegal drug trade.
