Police in Nababeep have confiscated liquor worth an estimated five thousand rand following a compliance inspection at a tuckshop on Tuesday, 08 September 2026.

Members of Vispol Nababeep conducted the inspection at around eleven o’clock, where they allegedly found several crates of liquor concealed in a back room.

Police says the investigations established that the 35-year-old tuckshop owner was allegedly selling alcohol without a valid liquor licence.

Cpt. Ivan Magerman, regional police spokesperson says police also found that the foreign national was allegedly residing and operating in South Africa without the required documentation, leading to his arrest under the Immigration Act, as well as a charge for the illegal sale of liquor.

The Namakwa District Management says the operation forms part of Operation Shanela II and warns that illegal liquor sales and other unlawful activities will not be tolerated.
