The Namakwa District Management has welcomed the ten-year prison sentence handed down to Nazeed Pienaar, also known as “China”, by the Pofadder Regional Court on Wednesday, 09 September 2026.

Police says Pienaar was convicted of rape following an incident in March 2025, in which a 46-year-old woman was allegedly raped while sleeping on the veranda of her residence in Pella.

Police says the accused was arrested the following day, while a diligent investigation by Detective Constable Thabang Mokgethe of the Pofadder FCS Unit ultimately secured the conviction.

Cpt. Ivan Magerman, regional police spokesperson says Pienaar was declared unfit to possess a firearm, placed on the National Register for Sex Offenders and declared unfit to work with children.
