Police in the Namakwa District has arrested eight suspects in connection with various drug-related offences during intelligence-driven operations conducted under Operation Shanela II.

The arrests were made between 18 and 21 September in Springbok, Koingnaas, Pofadder and Sutherland, with suspects facing allegations including drug dealing and possession.

Police seized cannabis, cash suspected to be proceeds of crime, and other suspected drugs during several searches and operations across the district.

Two suspects arrested by Springbok Public Order Policing were allegedly found concealing suspected drugs internally.

Police says an X-ray examinations confirmed foreign objects before the substances were medically removed under supervision.
