Road users in the Namakwa District are urged to exercise extreme caution following recent rainfall, which has left gravel roads wet and slippery.
The Department of Roads and Public Works says its monitoring several high-risk routes, including the Witpad–Kleinzee, Port Nolloth–Kleinzee, Kleinzee–Rooipad and Groenriviermond, Brandvlei–Loeriesfontein, Roodewerf, and Calvinia–Clanwilliam roads.
Authorities are also closely monitoring road conditions on Richtersveld and Khai-Ma municipal roads.
Water levels at low-water bridges are being monitored as conditions remain wet across the district.
Motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel on wet roads, reduce speed, and drive with extreme caution.
