Radio Nfm, is a community radio station based in Okiep which is located in the Namakwa District. The radio station serves the greater district municipality which includes Namakwa District, Richtersveldt, Kammiesberg, and Khaima Municipalities. The radio broadcasts in the four main languages spoken in its operational area namely; Afrikaans, English, Nama, and Xhosa.
We currently have a listenership of over +-50 000 based on the latest results and mainly target a mix of income groups.
Radio Nfm has established solid relationships with local stakeholders and businesses and we aim to create a platform to educate, empower, and entertain our community through informative and locally produced programming and news.
Our Mandate is to:
To provide broadcasting services to the communities residing in the footprint as per ICASA-approved frequency spectrum license and broadcasting license.
To employ, as needed, full-time, part-time, and volunteer staff that will enable the company to deliver quality community sound broadcasting services.
To develop and utilize the skills of those members of the community who show aptitude in program production, continuity presenting, news gathering and compilation, research, broadcasting production, and technical aspects as well as ancillary skills needed to provide community broadcasting services
To inform, educate, and entertain the community who resides in the broadcasting area of NFM 98.1, 90.7 and 89.1.
To produce and broadcast quality programming through the use of periodic research methods like “community mapping”.
To maintain and expand equipment and other assets of the station that may enable it to keep up with trends and developments in the broadcasting sector both in terms of legislation and physical assets.
To provide a competitive service in the marketplace.
To generate revenue through the selling of airtime, airtime sponsorship, and marketing services to local, national, and international businesses, institutions, and organizations.
