The Joint Committee has met to consider the 2024/25 PFMA Annual Report, focusing on financial management, governance, and institutional capacity within the Legislature.

Members noted an 80 percent performance achievement, a clean audit opinion, and changes in the Legislature’s financial position, while also raising concerns about staffing shortages, ICT systems, and instances of fruitless and wasteful expenditure.

The Committee held its first meeting on the Social Development Vote 11, emphasising the need for stronger procurement processes, asset management, and improved oversight to ensure value for money.

A second meeting reviewed the Education Vote 10 APP, highlighting priorities around education quality, infrastructure development, and the financial pressures faced by departments.

The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to effective oversight, sound financial management, and responsible use of public funds.
