The Namakwa District Department of Health urges parents and guardians to take their girls aged 9 and above for screening against human papillomavirus, a leading cause of cervical cancer.

This call comes as the department continues its National MPV vaccination campaign, which began on February 2 and runs until March 31, 2026.

School Health Teams will visit public and special schools to administer the single-dose MPV vaccine free of charge during this period.

Since 2014, over 9,600 vaccines have been given in the Namakwa district, with more than 80% learner coverage.

Parents who have not yet signed the consent form are encouraged to do so promptly, supporting the global World Health Organization initiative to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030.
