Eskom has announced that it recorded a 62-point-four-six percent year‑on‑year reduction in diesel usage in the 2025/26 financial year.

According to the power utility, the diesel expenditure was six-point-four-billion rand.

It generated more than one-thousand gigawatt-hours of electricity from its diesel-fuelled open-cycle gas turbines.

The utility maintains that this shows its commitment to disciplined cost management and the delivery of long‑term energy security.

Eskom’s spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, says they also recorded 361 uninterrupted days without loadshedding in the previous financial year.
