Julie Estey from Buffelsrivier in the Namakwa region secured second place in the women’s category at the Klipspringer Challenge trail run held on Sunday, May 03.
The demanding two-day event began on the northern bank of the Orange River near Khamkirri Resort and concluded on the southern side at the Augrabies Falls National Park Rest Camp.
Day one took runners through remote northern sections of the park, featuring rugged terrain and challenging climbs across largely untouched desert landscapes.
Day two followed the southern section, including parts of the well-known SANParks Klipspringer Hiking Trail and sections along the Orange River Canyon.
Despite the tough and technical conditions, Estey delivered a strong performance across the demanding desert course to secure her podium finish.
