Road authorities in the Namaqua District have warned motorists to exercise extreme caution due to muddy and slippery gravel roads following recent wet conditions.

The Department of Roads and Public Works says key affected routes include the Witpad to Kleinzee Road (MR745) and the Alexander Bay to Kuboes route (DR3246).

The department say water crossings along these roads are still active and must subside before maintenance work can begin.

Road inspections and assessments are ongoing, with updates expected as conditions change.

Zandisile Luphahla, department spokesperson urge motorists to avoid unnecessary travel on these routes and to strictly obey all road signs and warnings.
