South Africa has recorded a 25 percent decrease in pork prices over the past four months.
The decrease is credited to a surplus of pork following months of shortages and imports.
The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation says the landscape has changed as South Africa has managed to contain African swine fever.
The development means lower prices for consumers but lower profits for pork farmers.
The Eskort CEO Arnold Prinsloo says the current prices are expected to remain stable for the next few months.
