The Democratic Alliance is calling on the Northern Cape Provincial Government to urgently implement a rescue plan for abandoned government buildings across the province.
DA Harold McGluwa says many state-owned properties have been left to deteriorate, becoming hotspots for vandalism, crime and illegal occupation.
He says abandoned facilities, including the Nico Bekker school hostel in Williston and hostels in Calvinia are examples of neglected public infrastructure.
The DA says buildings that can still be restored should be renovated for public use, while those beyond repair should be responsibly disposed of through transparent processes.
