The Northern Cape Provincial Government has pledged two-million rand towards the continued development of the Griquas Women’s Rugby Team on 06 September 2026.
This follows a celebratory weekend at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley, where the Griquas defeated the ADT Lions in the Currie Cup semifinal to secure their place in the final.
Provincial Premier Dr. Zamani Saul says the Griquas Women’s Rugby Team has made the province proud by winning the SA Rugby Pick n Pay Women’s Second Division, describing their victory as a demonstration of talent, discipline and determination.
Saul says the two-million-rand pledge is an investment in the team’s continued development and in creating more opportunities for women’s rugby to grow and succeed in the province.
