AfriForum says it will thoroughly investigate the National Energy Regulator of South Africa’s (Nersa) decision to grant an additional 54-billion rand to Eskom.
The organisation wants to determine whether the decision is rational and fair, and may submit a formal request for full reasons if it is not published in time.
Nersa has announced that Eskom tariffs will increase further over the next two financial years.
An advisor for Local Government Affairs at AfriForum, Deidré Steffens, says consumers are still paying for long-standing management and infrastructure problems at Eskom.
