The Northern Cape Provincial Initiation Coordinating Committee has officially opened applications for the 2026 initiation season.

Young men wishing to undergo traditional initiation, parents/guardians are advised to collect and submit their application forms at designated regional and local municipality offices. 

The committee says in the Namakwa district, these forms can be found at the Namakwa Regional Office in Springbok as well as at the Nama Khoi Local Municipality offices.

Community members are urged to apply promptly to avoid delays, as the process is designed to ensure safe and regulated initiation practices across the province. 

The applications for winter initiation schools, led by Kgosi Pule Bareki, are now open from April 1st until May 31st, 2026, with interested schools encouraged to submit their applications within this period.
