The Northern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works has begun its July 2026 gravel road blading programme across the Namakwa District.

The department says the routine maintenance will focus on key routes in the Karoo Hoogland, Hantam and Springbok maintenance areas.

The department says the work forms part of its ongoing efforts to preserve road infrastructure, improve accessibility and support economic growth.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution in active work zones, obey temporary road signs and reduce speed.

Department spokesperson Zandisile Luphahla says the maintenance programme aims to ensure safer and more reliable travel for all road users across the province.
