The Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape says the Nama Khoi Municipality is proving that strong political leadership can improve service delivery, even as many provincial municipalities struggle with water shortages and economic decline.

According to the DA, years of failing infrastructure and poor financial management have left communities across the province facing unreliable water supply.

The party says under the coalition government in Nama Khoi, the municipality reduced its debt to Vaal Central Water from R281 million to R24 million in the current financial year.

DA's Rodney Kritzinger says that improved financial management helped secure R114 million in national funding to strengthen water infrastructure in the region.  

Kritzinger says the progress in Nama Khoi shows that accountable governance can deliver results for residents.
