The Namakwa District has welcomed the successful convictions secured by Detective Sergeant Jan de Bruin of the Fraserburg Detective Unit.

Police says Lena De Wee, 31, was found guilty of murder in Fraserburg Regional Court on 10 March 2026 and sentenced to 20 years in prison, declared unfit to possess a firearm, after stabbing her life partner during an altercation in December 2024.

Cpt. Ivan Magerman, regional police spokesperson says in an unrelated case, Hendrik Goliath, 47, was also convicted of murder and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment following a stabbing incident in September 2023, surrendering himself to police afterward. 

Magerman says Warren Constable, 41, was sentenced for assault with grievous bodily harm, obstruction of justice, and common assault, receiving a combined sentence of 18 years and being declared unfit to own a firearm.

District Commissioner Brigadier Schalk Andrews praised Detective Sergeant de Bruin for his meticulous investigative work in securing these convictions.
