The Fraserburg Regional Court in Namakwa region has delivered a strong judgment in a case of gender-based violence that shocked the local community on Monday, April 20.
Police says thirty-two-year-old Gert Johannes was found guilty and sentenced to 22 years’ direct imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend.
The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
Police says the evidence showed that an argument led to a violent attack on 12 April 2025, after which the victim sustained fatal injuries.
