The Foundation for Empowerment through Afrikaans, or SBA, has awarded a drama scholarship to a Namakwa pupil as part of its investment in the arts and language development.

The foundation says the scholarship was presented during the Proscenium Drama Competition and covers a three-year Drama degree at a university of the recipient’s choice anywhere in South Africa.

Grade 11 and 12 learners who reached the final rounds of the competition were eligible to apply for the opportunity. T

The scholarship was awarded to Kayle Farmer, a Grade 12 learner from Alexander Bay High School in the Northern Cape.

The SBA says the initiative aims to empower young talent while promoting the growth of Afrikaans through the performing arts.
