The African National Congress in the Namakwa region has welcomed changes to the Provincial Executive Council announced by Premier Dr Zamani Saul on yesterday.

The ANC says the changes are aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

Among the new appointments, Cde Fufe Makotong becomes Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, while Cde Bentley Vass takes over as MEC for Public Works.

Cde Lebogang Motlhaping has been appointed MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, while Cde Nwenre Klaaste will oversee Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform.

Cde Miriam Kibi will be responsible for Children, Women and Persons with Disabilities in the Office of the Premier.

Bertie Saal, party's regional spokesperson says they have full confidence that the changes will strengthen service delivery in the province.
