Northern Cape community members have expressed concern over a recent spate of murders, saying the incidents are adding to the ongoing gender-based violence and femicide pandemic.

More than nine women have reportedly been murdered over the past three months, July/Sept 2026, raising renewed calls for communities to take a stronger stand against violence.

Community member Sinethemba Mankayi says society should lose the mentality of minding my own business, stressing the need to rebuild unity and collective responsibility.

Mankayi says communities must work together to raise awareness, prevent violence and support victims and those affected by GBVF.

He is calling for greater community involvement and solidarity to help confront violence and create safer communities.
