The South African Police Service in Steinkopf are investigating an inquest following the death of a 38-year-old man in Melkbos Street.

Police said the incident was reported to the Steinkopf Community Service Centre by a member of the public on Saturday, 26 September 2026, at approximately 9:25 p.m.

The caller reported that a person had allegedly been found in Melkbos Street.

Police members were dispatched to the location and, upon arrival, found a male deceased at the scene.

Cpt. Ivan Magerman, regional police spokesperson said the circumstances surrounding the man’s death have not yet been established, and police investigations are continuing.
