Kamiesberg Local Municipality employees Harold Meyer, Rufus Beukes and Melvin Cloete have been arrested on allegations of fraud, corruption and money laundering.

The trio appeared before the Garies Magistrates Court following an investigation into procurement irregularities at Kamiesberg Local Municipality.

WO Nomthandazo Mnisi, provincial hawks spokesperson said it was alleged the municipality paid over R275 000 to Van Kay General Dealer for two water pumps that were never delivered.

Mnisi said upon investigation, it was discovered that the Municipal Manager authorised the payments despite allegedly knowing that the goods had not been supplied.

Meyer was granted R5 000 bail while Beukes and Cloete were released on warning, with the case postponed to 23 April 2026 at the Springbok Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
