Kangnas Windplaas had a windy day when R10,000 blew into the bank account of St Anna Private School. The Kangnas Wind Farm held an educational competition on Monday aimed at engaging the students and youth of Nama-Khoi Municipality.

This year’s Global Wind Day competition was won by St Anna, with Hoerksool Concordia coming in third and Hoerksool Nababeep coming in second. Like all the other schools, the five girls from St Anna constructed a functional wind turbine and demonstrated to the judges how they can use renewable energy to generate electricity.

St. Anna won the inaugural Turbine trophy, and each girl on the squad was given an AirPods and a smartwatch. During Tuesday afternoon’s Kangnas Radio NFM program, the girls talked about their experiences.

Ronaldo Giko, project manager said that the competition was designed to enhance their understanding of the functionality of wind turbines. This important initiative also sought to increase awareness within the communities about the crucial role of weather conditions in energy production.

The Global Wind Day is commemorated every year worldwide. The following event is scheduled for June 15th. The theme for this year’s celebration is “The Wind in Mind.”

The goal of Global Wind Day is to increase public awareness of wind energy and its potential benefits for environmental protection and sustainability. It provides an opportunity for both adults and kids to make a difference by teaching them how wind energy can lower carbon footprint and save costs associated with importing fossil fuels. The day can encourage people to work toward a greener planet and promote clean air.
