MOTORISTS HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF PATCHING R31 ROAD

solomonstar.co.za

It has been long that motorists have been raising their concern pertaining the R31 road but yet the Department of roads and public works still come with short term solutions.

The road was closed last year for the same problem, entire R31 road reserve is already in severe disrepair and awful state for the last 20 years same problems every year this is the worst and most dangerous road in the provincial road reserves and yet it continues to be a key contributor in our provincial economy.

The R31 is more than 50 years old, times has changed so much. The road need to be upgraded not to be patched motorists suggested that this must be a permanent solution by building a bridge on the low lying areas and stop patching the potholes or install toll gates in order to monitor its usage and make it self-sustainable. That way they will be benefiting from these mining trucks responsible for damaging the road

There must be civil engineers working on this project because lives of people depend on this R31 road. Rebuilding this road it will also create job opportunities and income to the province.
