The Namakwa police stations reflected a decrease of -1.8% in 17 community crime cases reported in the Northern Cape.
This is according to the 4th quarter of 2023/24 and 1st quarter of 2024/25 Crime Statistics in the province.
Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, the provincial police commissioner, together with the provincial premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, and Safety & Liaison MEC Bentley Vass released the stats in Kimberley on Monday, 09 September 2024.
Brig. Samuel Mathe has presented crime statistics, stating that the Springbok police station in Namakwa district is in fourteenth place with an increase of five cases since the last financial year. Meanwhile, Nababeep police station recorded thirty-seven cases, placing it nineteen out of the top thirty police stations that received cases of heinous crimes.

In the trend of three months for murder, Mathe revealed that Namakwa district has seen eight more cases which are reported to have increased by twelve percent in the province.
Statistically, Sutherland reported three murder cases, Springbok had two cases, and Komaggas & Niewoudtville had one case, respectively.
“There were no multiple murder [more than one victim] incidents reported within the Northern Cape Province for the period April to June 2024,” said Mathe.
