The anticipation is building as Netball Namaqualand prepares to welcome the prestigious Netball World Cup Trophy to the region soon, in about two weeks. The Netball World Cup, a highly anticipated international netball tournament held every four years, bringing together teams from around the globe to compete for the coveted title of world champions in netball.
Organized by the International Netball Federation (INF), this thrilling event showcases the best talent in this sporting category. The previous edition of the Netball World Cup took place in Liverpool, England, in 2019, where the Australian national netball team emerged as the champions, triumphing over New Zealand in a gripping final. Now, with the next edition scheduled to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from July 28th to August 6th, 2023, the excitement is palpable.
To build excitement and rally support for the upcoming tournament, the President of Netball South Africa, Cecilia Molokwane, has embarked on a journey across South Africa, taking the trophy on a grand tour. As part of this tour, they will be visiting various radio stations, engaging with fans, and spreading enthusiasm for the sport.
The Namaqua District will also have the honor of hosting the trophy, and the INF’s esteemed guests.
